A new GATEWAY cohort can begin when a facilitator and is paired with a group of participants. Facilitators must hold an EFCA ministry credential to be eligible. Participants often come from within the facilitator’s community, but GATEWAY also maintains a waitlist of students that are interested in joining a cohort and currently without a facilitator. Most cohorts contain 4-8 students.
Becoming a facilitator and starting a new cohort:
- Complete the below “Facilitator Interest Form”
- GATEWAY will help you determine who will be a part of your cohort.
- GATEWAY will contact your District Superintendent to inform them of your interest in facilitating a new cohort in the district.
- GATEWAY will provide you with facilitator training and help you promote your new cohort
- GATEWAY will host a virtual student orientation to explain course expectations and get the cohort started.
Facilitator duties include about 7-8 hours of time per month/session:
- Coordinate meeting times for and facilitate each GATEWAY session (2-3 hours per session)
- Read each participant’s initial draft prior to each session (~2 hours per session)
- Grade each participant’s revised paper on a pass/fail basis (~2 hours per session)
- Respond to individual participant questions, as you deem reasonable (~30 minutes per session)
- Maintain attendance and grade records for participants, and provide them to GATEWAY at the end of the course (30 minutes or less per session)
